Medical Oncology
Drs. Jelka Kuiper, MD, is a PhD candidate at the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam, where she conducts full‑time research in the field of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). She temporarily paused her residency training in oncology to fully dedicate herself to clinical research focused on improving outcomes for patients with NETs.
Her work centers on translational and clinical studies in neuroendocrine oncology. She serves as the national coordinator of the SAUNA trial in the Netherlands, a study evaluating the role of somatostatin analogues during peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT) in patients without hormonal syndromes. She published about Mahvash disease, a rare genetic neuroendocrine tumor syndrome. Through this research, she aims to optimize treatment strategies and refine the therapeutic sequence for NET care.
