Dr. Joaquim Peres Gago, MD, PhD Candidate, is a Medical Oncologist in the Digestive Unit of the Champalimaud Clinical Centre in Lisbon, Portugal, specialising in neuroendocrine tumours (NETs) and gastrointestinal malignancies.

He completed his Medical Oncology training at the Portuguese Institute of Oncology of Lisbon.

 

Dr. Gago’s clinical and academic work focuses on the multidisciplinary management of NETs, with particular interest in treatment sequencing, molecularly driven strategies, and the integration of novel targeted agents into clinical practice. He has served as co-investigator in multiple international phase II and III trials in gastrointestinal cancers and contributes regularly to scientific meetings and educational initiatives.

 

He is currently pursuing a PhD in Medicine investigating the prognostic and predictive value of tissue and circulating T-cell receptor repertoire dynamics as immune biomarkers in colorectal cancer.

His areas of expertise include advanced NET management, pancreatic and colorectal cancer, precision oncology, immuno-oncology biomarkers, and clinical research development.
