Dr Sabari grew up in Brooklyn, New York and was interested in science and problem solving from an early age. As a child, he loved taking things apart so he could figure out how they worked. During his undergraduate education, he majored in philosophy where he studied ethics and shared decision making. It was this same passion, partnered with his compassion for others, that inspired him to attend medical school and ultimately choose the specialty of oncology.

At NYU Langone’s Perlmutter Cancer Center, he specialises in caring for people who have lung cancers, including non-small cell lung cancer and small cell lung cancer. Dr Sabari understands that a cancer diagnosis is frightening, and navigating treatment can be overwhelming.  Dr Sabari believes that every person should be treated as an individual and receive personalised treatment and care. His goal is to help guide patients and their families through treatment, so they feel comfortable, supported, and confident in their care.

Dr Sabari works closely with a team of cancer specialists to deliver advanced treatments with a compassionate and patient-centred focus. Together, they strive to fight cancer and minimise its physical symptoms, so everyone under their care can spend their lives doing what matters most to them.

Dr Sabari’s research focuses on developing new treatments for people with lung cancers. His goal is to develop biomarker-driven clinical trials that offer patients unprecedented access to novel therapies and personalised treatments. Dr Sabari aims to better understand why people develop cancer and wishes to create innovative ways to harness the body’s immune system to fight cancer.
