Friederike Schlürmann obtained her MD at the University of Kiel, Germany, in 2007.  She trained at the University Hospital in Brest, France, and at the Institut Gustave Roussy (IGR), Villejuif in France where she foccussed on early phase clinical research at the DITEP ( Département d’Innovation Thérapeutique et d’Essais Précoces).  She obtained additional university diplomas in clinical oncology, palliative care, patient education and clinical research.

She currently works as a medical oncologist at the University Hospital of Brest (Cancer Institut) and Quimper .  Her main focus is patient care and clinical research in GU oncology.  She is the principal investigator and national coordinator of numerous clinical trials in the field of prostate, kidney and renal cell cancer.  Since 2012 she is an active member of the french GETUG groupe (french groupe of GU experts).

One of her main goals is to help get research results translated into clinical practice for medical oncologists and urologists. To achieve this goal she is a speaker for numerous GU oncology events and works on educational programmes for practitioners and patients.
